Italy wins the team competition at Challenge Bernadotte

Congratulations to the Italian team with Enrico Garozzo, Alfredo Rota, Paolo Pizzo and Matthew Trager.

World cup competition for national teams at Challenge Bernadotte in Stockholm ended on Sunday afternoon. Italy beat Poland in a very dramatic final which had to be decided in sudden death. Poland stayed on top for a long while, despite having to substitute one fencer due to injury. After 7 of the 9 matches, Poland was in the lead  33-30. Enters Paolo Pizzo, a highly accomplished and intensive fencer who evens the score to 39-39. After the 9th and final match, the score was still tied; 41-41. In overtime Alfredo Rota made the final touch and wins the competition for Italy.

Sven Schmid from germany won 15-9 in a very intense final defeating Paolo Pizzo of Italy. Great tactical fencing, patience and excellent tempo actions from Sven Schmid. In the first semi-final, Sven Schmid defeated Gautier Grumier of France in a very close match (15-14). Impressive long and quick attacks from Grumier versus tempo actions from Schmid. Paulo Pizzo won his semi-final over fellow Italian Alfredo Rota 15-12.

In the quarter finals Sven Schmid defeated Nikolai Novosjolov (EST) with 15-9. Paulo Pizzo won over Guoje Li (CHN) with 15-9.  Gautier Grumier (FRA) defeated Francesco Martinelli (ITA). Matteo Tagliariol (ITA) lost to Alfredo Rota (ITA).

This was the first fencing event ever in Qrodo and everybody in the team were very excited about the oppertunity. Normally we broadcast over the 3G network, unless we have better options. This time we were able to use the ADSL line of Sport and Rehab Center that have their facilities in Åkeshovshallen. Many thanks.

Day 1 of the Swedish championship held Men’s team Foil and Women’s team Épée. Qrodo were live-casting from piste 1 where Men’s Foil competition took place. Top class performances were Ängby FK team 1 came out as winners. Unfortunately we missed the new nonpareil star Emma Samuelsson, who was leading her Göteborg FK to the win.

lagfaktning21During the weekend of November 29-30 the Swedish Fencing Federation, Ängby Fäktklubb and Qrodo delivered a spectacular live-casting event from the Swedish Championships in Team Fencing. During the first day 500 unique viewers followed the fencing at the Fencing Channel.
